The Department of Earth and Environmental Science provides a two-year Master of Science program featuring graduate-level Geology courses, weekly seminars, qualifying examinations, and thesis research. Within Temple University's College of Science and Technology, this Geology M.S. program delivers comprehensive knowledge of geological processes while enabling specialized research in your chosen discipline. Students can pursue advanced studies and research in key areas such as: Environmental geology, covering ecohydrology, energy resources and land degradation, environmental geophysics, groundwater modeling, climate change impacts on ice sheets, Karst hydrology, nanomineralogy, and urban water systems. Geochemistry studies encompassing nanomineralogy, fossil origin analysis, planetary geology, and rock weathering processes. Sedimentary geology and paleontology, investigating coastal and wind-driven formations, trace fossil studies, fossil provenance analysis, soil science across geological time, extraterrestrial geology, and early Earth studies. Structural geology focusing on geothermal resources and rock mechanics. Program alumni successfully enter professional careers across industries, academic institutions, and government agencies, while others continue into Ph.D. programs.
