The Master of Science in Athletic Training (M.S.A.T.) program holds accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, equipping students to pursue certification as athletic trainers while advancing clinical practice and education standards. Launched in Summer 2016, this program emerged following the joint decision by CAATE, the Board of Certification, and the National Athletic Trainers' Association to mandate a master's degree for certification eligibility, reflecting the profession's expanding responsibilities. Current certified athletic trainers may explore Temple's Master of Science in Kinesiology with an Athletic Training focus. As Temple University transitioned from its B.S.A.T. program, it reinforced its three-decade leadership in athletic training education by proactively adopting the master's requirement years before the 2022 deadline. The university's prime location, exceptional clinical opportunities, robust alumni connections, innovative health research, and committed faculty create a distinctive, competitive learning environment.
M.S.A.T. graduates develop the ability to: implement professional practice principles in clinical settings, master athletic training competencies, champion improved healthcare results, maintain ethical and culturally aware practice standards, contribute to the field's advancement, communicate effectively across healthcare teams and athletic departments, and utilize evidence-based approaches to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
