Environmental conditions and sustainable growth significantly impact individual and community health. Effective environmental stewardship is crucial for safeguarding public well-being and preventing many avoidable diseases linked to environmental causes. Our health is shaped by the environment through various pathways, such as contact with physical, chemical, and biological hazards, along with resulting behavioral adaptations. The Environmental Health MPH is a professional degree designed to equip students for hands-on careers in environmental health management, focusing on analyzing environmental influences and policies that impact community health and sustainable ecosystems. Temple University's College of Public Health offers this program to train students for environmental health careers, particularly in assessing exposures from water, soil, air, and urban environments that influence population health. This program develops skilled public health practitioners capable of modifying environmental policies and regulations, understanding their impact on at-risk groups, and specializing in environmental toxicology, risk evaluation, industrial health hazards, urban development challenges, and global health threats. Graduates will be proficient in detecting both existing and emerging environmental concerns, including microbial pathogens and chemical contaminants, and understanding their connections to human health outcomes.
