The Theater/Design M.F.A. program provides professional training where M.F.A. designers and technicians work alongside faculty, staff, and visiting artists to produce dynamic modern theater for varied audiences. We seek passionate designers willing to explore a play's vision across different eras, styles, and emotional landscapes, bringing diverse skills to craft immersive theatrical worlds. This Design program blends rigorous coursework with hands-on productions to develop versatile designers and technicians. Alumni excel in regional theaters, academic settings, and entertainment fields. Elevate your career in shaping theater's visual storytelling through Temple's Master of Fine Arts in Design program within the School of Theater, Film and Media Arts. Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline: All applicants must present credentials that are the equivalent of the baccalaureate degree at Temple University.
Statement of Goals: Introduce yourself in approximately 500 words by relaying your relevant experience, values, and areas of interest. Proper essay form should be used, but it may be in a personal style.
Standardized Test Scores: No standardized test is used for admission to the M.F.A. Acting program.
Audition: We audition through URTA with audition sites in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco and locally on the Temple University campus.
Interview: In addition to the audition, applicants who are called back for an interview are required to bring transcripts, a headshot, and a resume. Interviews are generally held in February and March.
Resume: Current resume required.
The minimum admissions standard for all graduate students is ordinarily an undergraduate grade point average of B or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or the functional equivalent for students who have attended universities outside of the United States.
