Temple University's Master of Education in Early Childhood Education and Special Education prepares you to obtain specialized credentials, including a Pennsylvania Instructional I Certificate. Upon completing the program, Temple will recommend you for Instructional I teacher certification. You'll also gain qualifications for Early Childhood (PreK-4) and Special Education (PreK-8) teaching certifications. Beyond foundational coursework in reading/literacy, math, science, and social studies, you'll learn specialized methods for addressing diverse learning needs. The curriculum explores learning processes to help you recognize variations in intelligence, cognitive growth, and self-regulation. You'll develop skills to support children with autism, ADHD, or other special needs through comprehensive assessments, inclusive classroom design, tailored teaching approaches, and positive behavior management. The program also provides thorough grounding in child development theory, educational psychology challenges, and effective techniques for teaching English language learners.
