This cross-disciplinary program provides students with both theoretical foundations and practical skills to drive and advocate for transformation across diverse environments. The curriculum emphasizes these key domains: Community development and social transformation, Organizational behavior, Nonprofit administration and governance, Research methodologies and assessment, Hands-on fieldwork, Advocacy principles, communication strategies, conflict management techniques, organizational behavior studies, and community involvement practices that can be directly implemented in both nonprofit and corporate environments. Classroom learning and projects incorporate students' professional backgrounds while providing training in conceptual frameworks, theoretical approaches, and methodological implementations.
The interdisciplinary M.Ed. in Advocacy and Organizational Development is guided by faculty specializing in anthropology, education, law, psychology, sociology, and related disciplines. The curriculum integrates social science principles, conflict resolution theories, and both quantitative and qualitative research methods to cultivate student competencies in: identifying organizational and community challenges, designing strategic interventions, enhancing community or institutional welfare, managing disputes and facilitating negotiations, empowering schools, neighborhoods, and institutions to self-advocate, fostering diverse and inclusive collaborations, and conducting organizational or community-based research. This program aims to cultivate socially conscious professionals who empower organizations and communities through rigorous research, theoretical knowledge, and practical skills, including in-depth examination of advocacy strategies, organizational behavior patterns, community partnership models, and nonprofit sector operations.
