The Master of Arts in Biology offered by Temple University's College of Science and Technology provides up-to-date curriculum designed to deepen students' knowledge of current biological concepts. This program equips learners for professional degree programs or biological science careers. The Biology MA is available as either a part-time or full-time graduate option, ideal for those pursuing advanced biological studies without laboratory-based experimental work. Unlike the Biology MS, this program concentrates on academic coursework and independent study, allowing specialization in areas like molecular biology, genetics, and related disciplines. Through its course-intensive approach, you'll cultivate the analytical abilities needed for biological investigation and literature analysis. The interdisciplinary curriculum covers subjects including cellular, developmental and molecular biology; cellular and molecular neuroscience; ecology and integrative biology; and evolutionary genomics. Each Biology MA candidate completes a comprehensive, non-research literature thesis during their final year, gaining expertise in examining, evaluating, and synthesizing primary scientific sources. Graduates develop the ability to produce thorough, analytical scientific reviews. While classroom learning forms the program's core, students can utilize resources from the Department of Biology's research centers such as the Center for Biodiversity, the Institute for Contemporary Molecular Science, and the Sbarro Health Research Organization.
