The Master of Arts in Biology offered by Temple University's College of Science and Technology provides up-to-date curriculum designed to deepen students' knowledge of current biological concepts. This program equips learners for professional degree programs or biological science careers. The Biology MA is available for both part-time and full-time graduate students, specifically designed for those pursuing advanced biological studies without laboratory-based experimental research. Unlike the Biology MS, this program concentrates on academic coursework and independent study, allowing specialization in biological disciplines like molecular biology and genetics. Through its course-intensive approach, students cultivate critical analysis abilities essential for biological research and literature evaluation. The interdisciplinary curriculum covers cellular, developmental and molecular biology, cellular and molecular neuroscience, ecology and integrative biology, and evolutionary genomics. During their final year, all MA candidates complete a comprehensive literature-based thesis, honing their skills in researching, analyzing, and synthesizing scientific publications. Graduates emerge capable of producing thorough, analytical scientific reviews. While classroom learning forms the program's core, students can utilize Department of Biology resources including the Center for Biodiversity, the Institute for Contemporary Molecular Science, and the Sbarro Health Research Organization.
