Gain comprehensive training in diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the oral and maxillofacial area through Temple University's Kornberg School of Dentistry Graduate Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. This 30-month postgraduate certificate program forms part of a six-year dual-degree residency, combining an MD from Temple's Lewis Katz School of Medicine with specialized surgical certification. The curriculum, developed jointly with Temple's medical school and health system, prepares residents for complex surgical interventions involving both functional and cosmetic aspects of facial structures.
Trainees develop advanced surgical skills while contributing to community healthcare initiatives. The program integrates classroom learning with hands-on clinical experience, supplemented by research opportunities and professional growth activities. Participants master essential techniques in oral biology, pediatric anesthesia administration, and research design while preparing for surgical practice.
Through collaboration with dental professionals and other specialty programs at Kornberg, residents engage in multidisciplinary care covering implant dentistry, oral pathology, TMJ disorders, and corrective jaw surgery. The program emphasizes practical experience in all aspects of modern oral and maxillofacial surgical practice.
