The Chemistry graduate program offers comprehensive training in specialized fields, equipping students with essential skills for advancing their research and professional development. With a strong focus on research, the program integrates seminar participation and chemical literature review as core components. While course loads remain manageable, students can select from diverse intermediate and advanced offerings across disciplines. Cross-disciplinary coursework in Biology, Computer Science, and Physics is encouraged to align with individual research goals. Temple University's College of Science and Technology presents a Chemistry PhD program that cultivates leadership in chemical research and innovation. This doctoral program trains students to conduct independent and team-based research addressing challenging chemical issues. Graduates pursue careers across multiple sectors including biochemistry, catalysis, chemical engineering, materials science, forensic chemistry, and synthetic chemistry. Master's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline: A master's degree is not required for admission into the Ph.D. program.
Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline: A baccalaureate degree is required. Typically, the undergraduate degree has been earned in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Applicants who earned their baccalaureate degree from an institution where the language of instruction was other than English, with the exception of those who subsequently earned a master's degree at a U.S. institution, must report scores for a standardized test of English that meet these minimums:
TOEFL: 85 iBT or 575 PBT,
IELTS: 6.5,
Regardless of score, all international students are required to take a SPEAK test upon arrival at Temple.
