Temple's College of Public Health offers a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science that emphasizes both the scientific principles and practical applications of health fitness and athletic performance. This program equips students with the knowledge needed for various professional certifications and careers in physical fitness. Throughout the curriculum, students learn to evaluate physical fitness levels, study human movement mechanics, and utilize data to create safe, effective exercise regimens. Exercise and sport science primarily concentrates on two specialization paths: health (working with both healthy individuals and those with medical conditions) and performance (focusing on athletes and competitive sports participants). Students tailor their studies to align with their professional aspirations in either domain. The curriculum includes hands-on training in conducting laboratory and field assessments measuring agility, body composition, cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, reaction time, and other fitness components. You'll gain expertise in analyzing these measurements and applying evidence-based research to design optimal training programs for clients.
