Discover how to support pre-kindergarten through fourth-grade students in building foundational academic skills and lifelong learning habits. Pursue a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on Early Childhood Education (PreK-4) to prepare for a career as an elementary educator. This program prepares you to identify and overcome learning challenges for children with special needs, evaluate student progress through multiple assessment methods, provide high-quality instruction in literacy, math, science, and social studies, implement teaching strategies for both English speakers and language learners, develop inclusive curriculum plans, and gain comprehensive knowledge of child development. Fieldwork begins as early as your sophomore year, offering opportunities to observe dynamic classroom management techniques. You'll gain hands-on experience teaching individuals, small groups, and full classes. The program culminates with a yearlong student teaching placement, mentored by an experienced classroom teacher and supervised by Temple University faculty.
