Tyler's undergraduate Printmaking program equips students to embrace opportunities through comprehensive exposure to diverse concepts and techniques, with a strong focus on career preparation during their studies. The program operates in spacious, contemporary studios with full equipment, where students initially master the core principles of the four printmaking methods (relief, intaglio, lithography, and silkscreen) before specializing in at least two areas. Advanced coursework covers color techniques, photographic processes, large-format printing, installation art, and digital printmaking. Students collaborate closely with faculty—all active artists—and MFA candidates, frequently working alongside BFA students in shared studio spaces. This cross-level interaction fosters mutual inspiration, with undergraduate printmakers often developing refined artistic perspectives through exposure to graduate-level work. Tyler's Printmaking program champions interdisciplinary approaches, actively encouraging students at every stage to engage with other departments, leading to innovative creations that blend printmaking with disciplines like photography, painting, textiles, or sculpture.
