The French major equips students with proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking while immersing them in the literary works, films, and customs of Francophone societies. While honing their language abilities and exploring diverse cultural expressions, French majors refine their analytical and interpretive capacities, enriching their broader academic experience. Graduates emerge with strong communication skills, a foundation in literary heritage, and cultural sensitivity that's ever more vital in our globalized society. Students gain both the expertise and critical thinking necessary to engage meaningfully in French-speaking environments while appreciating these communities' multicultural dimensions. This accelerated 1-year program enables Liberal Arts undergraduates to earn their bachelor's degree followed by a Master's in Secondary Education the subsequent year. The graduate curriculum fulfills Pennsylvania's certification requirements for teaching French across all grade levels (PreK-12).
