Discover the key influences and concepts that have defined the United States throughout history with Temple University's Bachelor of Arts in American Studies through the College of Liberal Arts. This program examines the changing values and political landscape of American society from multiple perspectives. Investigate how domestic and international conflicts, social movements, mainstream arts, and technological progress have shaped the nation's culture. Develop the ability to critically assess both the idealized narratives and daily experiences that influence American lives. This 123-credit undergraduate program strengthens reading, writing, and analytical skills while exploring fundamental aspects of American culture, including urban design, socioeconomic class, gender norms, immigration stories, workforce dynamics, mass media, political engagement, racial identity, societal transformation, technological innovation, and military conflicts. Students examine the interconnected nature of American society through coursework, internships, and experiential learning at Philadelphia-area cultural organizations. Graduates frequently continue their education in humanities, social sciences, law, or medicine, or enter fields such as corporate business, library services, teaching, journalism, museum work, nonprofit management, and community support.
