The Master of Science in Social Studies Education develops socially conscious educators who inspire and inform young citizens while extending learning beyond traditional classroom boundaries.
Offered through the Department of Teaching and Leadership, this program focuses on five essential competencies for modern education: mastery of social studies content, culturally responsive teaching methods, analytical thinking about teaching practices, student learning evaluation, and professional ethics. The curriculum fulfills the educational prerequisites for both initial and professional New York State teaching certification in Social Studies (Grades 7-12).
