These collaborative programs, offered through both the School of Education's Department of Teaching and Leadership and The College of Visual and Performing Arts, develop professional competencies and teaching approaches rooted in artistic practice and core principles, fostering interdisciplinary community engagement and creative problem-solving. Syracuse University offers two distinct Arts Education master's programs tailored to your current New York State certification status:
The Arts Education: Preparation track is designed for individuals with artistic training but lacking formal art certification. This pathway fulfills all academic prerequisites for obtaining both initial and professional New York State teaching credentials in Visual Arts (all grade levels).
The Arts Education: Professional track serves educators who already hold initial New York State certification in Visual Arts (all grades), meeting the academic standards for upgrading to professional certification.
