For almost fifty years, the Department of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) has been the nation's first and longest-running program of its type, holding accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).
To meet the growing demand for skilled mental health practitioners, Syracuse University offers a COAMFTE-accredited 60-credit master of arts in marriage and family therapy, equipping graduates for fulfilling careers in couples counseling, family therapy, and private practice, as well as positions in mental health centers, social service organizations, school systems, and various other settings.

Syracuse University's MFT M.A. program aims to develop ethical, systemically-minded clinicians, scholars, and researchers while emphasizing diversity and inclusion in marriage and family therapy practice.
