The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences provides graduate students with global opportunities for geological and geophysical field research. Current departmental research concentrates on three key areas: solid earth sciences/tectonics/crustal processes, climate studies, and water resources/hydrology. Housed in the advanced William B. Heroy Geology Laboratory, the department boasts cutting-edge analytical equipment, computational resources, and modern instructional spaces. Our faculty actively participate in both research and teaching, mentoring students pursuing either M.S. or Ph.D. degrees. Many faculty-led initiatives involve extensive international collaborations, enabling graduate students to work alongside renowned experts across diverse global locations. Faculty and graduate researchers are currently conducting field investigations in various regions around the world.
