The Experimental Particle Physics team investigates the elementary particles constituting matter and the fundamental forces influencing them. Our work encompasses two primary research areas: Quark Flavor Physics and Neutrino Physics. The Quark Flavor Physics team (Artuso, Blusk, Mountain, Rudolph, and Skwarnicki) participates in the LHCb experiment at CERN, concentrating on analyzing weak decays of charm and beauty quarks. This research aims to enhance our understanding of the Standard Model while primarily seeking signs of new physics beyond it.
The neutrino research group (Soderberg, Whittington) studies neutrino interactions and their insights into diverse scientific phenomena, from supernovae to flavor oscillations. They contribute to multiple projects, including the forthcoming Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE).
