The Au.D Program's core educational goals are to-
train future audiologists with strong foundations in scientific principles,
offer comprehensive academic instruction and hands-on clinical training to build expertise across ASHA's key domains (Foundations of Practice, Prevention and Identification, and Evaluation and Treatment), and
introduce students to research methodologies to cultivate evidence-based clinical decision-making skills.
Graduates will fulfill all ASHA-mandated coursework and clinical experience prerequisites for both the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology and New York State licensure.
Syracuse University's Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program maintains accreditation through the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, part of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution or its international equivalent. While an undergraduate background in speech/hearing sciences isn't required, all candidates must demonstrate completion of prerequisite coursework in mathematics, sciences, social sciences, human communication fundamentals, and speech/language disorders. Students lacking these prerequisites may need to complete them during graduate studies, potentially extending their program duration.
