Scientific and technological progress has transformed modern living. Educators at Syracuse University embrace the mission of equipping students with scientific processes, skills, and knowledge to thrive in our tech-driven society. Syracuse's science education program fosters close faculty-student collaboration, preparing future teachers with deep subject expertise, inclusive teaching methods, reflective practice, professional collaboration skills, and assessment capabilities for developing scientific literacy.
The science education curriculum provides four specialized tracks: biology education, chemistry education, earth science education, and physics education. Students can pursue either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in these disciplines, determined by the specific requirements fulfilled in their chosen scientific concentration.
