The Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) program equips students for careers in health-focused roles across government agencies, private firms, and non-profit organizations dedicated to promoting wellness and preventing disease among individuals, families, and communities. This major emphasizes hands-on learning and community involvement - from freshman year through the culminating senior internship, students collaborate with local partners to enhance health outcomes in both the Syracuse University area and surrounding regions. The 30-credit public health curriculum delivers essential knowledge and practical skills for entry-level public health positions or graduate studies. Alongside this core, students select a 15-credit specialization in Addiction Prevention, Health & Society, Healthcare Management, or Community Health Education for targeted career preparation. Graduates of the Addiction Prevention or Community Health Education tracks qualify for professional certification in their respective fields. The public health degree also serves as a stepping stone to advanced programs in medicine, dentistry, nursing, physician assistant studies, occupational therapy, or physical therapy.
