The Bachelor of Music in Music Education equips graduates to become creative musicians, skilled educators, and passionate arts advocates within their schools and communities.
Pursuing music education requires mastery in both musical performance and teaching. Students participate in coursework through both the School of Education's Department of Teaching and Leadership and The College of Visual and Performing Arts, gaining comprehensive training in pedagogical skills, artistic development, and music theory/history. Program graduates emerge with deep understanding of diverse learner needs and social equity, enabling them to design inclusive, effective music programs that benefit all students. This curriculum fulfills the requirements for New York State initial teaching certification in Music (K-12).
