The Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Health Careers Education (grades 7-12) prepares professionals in this field to obtain their initial teaching certification for New York State. Students in the MSED program through the Career & Technical Educator Preparation Department need to apply for Degree Candidacy after earning 12-18 program credits. Coursework completed beyond 18 credits prior to achieving candidacy may not count toward the degree. To qualify for candidacy, students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA overall and fulfill program requirements, including professional development and conditional acceptance criteria. The Degree Candidacy Application should be filed with the Graduate Studies Office, which then forwards it to the relevant department for evaluation.
