The Curriculum and Instruction Department provides undergraduate programs culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree and qualification for New York State initial teaching certification. Certification options include Childhood Education (grades 1-6) in subjects like The Arts, English, French, German, mathematics, science, social studies, Spanish, and women's studies; Adolescence Education (grades 7-12) in biology, chemistry, earth sciences, English, French, German, mathematics, physics, social studies, or Spanish; and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) for grades K-12. These programs combine pedagogical training with subject-specific coursework. Students in Adolescence 7-12 and TESOL K-12 programs are advised to explore completing a dual major in their chosen field.
Prospective students can begin their Bachelor of Science in Curriculum and Instruction either as incoming freshmen or transfer students.
