Oswego's geology programs equip students for diverse career paths or advanced studies in geology, engineering, and related disciplines. Approximately 25-33% of our alumni pursue graduate education, while others secure positions in environmental geology at consulting firms, corporate settings, and research labs. Graduates also find opportunities in petroleum, museums, education, materials testing, and other sectors.
The Curriculum and Instruction Department provides Bachelor of Science programs leading to NYS initial teaching certification across multiple levels and subjects. Certification options include Childhood 1-6 in arts, languages, STEM fields, and humanities; Adolescence 7-12 in sciences, languages, and social studies; and TESOL K-12. These programs combine pedagogical training with content-area coursework, with Adolescence and TESOL candidates often pursuing dual majors in their specialization areas.
Prospective students can enroll in Curriculum and Instruction majors either as incoming freshmen or transfer students.
