The Department of Curriculum and Instruction provides undergraduate programs culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree and eligibility for New York State initial teaching certification. Certification options include Childhood Education (grades 1-6) in specialized fields such as The Arts, English, French, German, mathematics, science, social studies, Spanish, and women's studies. For Adolescence Education (grades 7-12), certification areas include biology, chemistry, earth sciences, English, French, German, mathematics, physics, social studies, or Spanish. Additionally, the department offers a TESOL K-12 certification program.
All programs combine pedagogical coursework with subject-specific studies. Students in Adolescence 7-12 and TESOL K-12 programs are advised to explore completing a dual major in their chosen specialization.
Prospective students can begin their Bachelor of Science in Curriculum and Instruction either as incoming freshmen or transfer students.
