Electrical Engineering remains a rapidly expanding discipline within engineering, driven by evolving technologies and increasing industrial demands. SUNY New Paltz's curriculum addresses these requirements on a broad scale and with particular focus on the Mid-Hudson Valley region. We aim to equip students with a strong foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering principles, along with the skills to apply this knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. The engineering program's adaptability accommodates both full-time and part-time students, traditional and non-traditional learners, as well as those new to engineering and individuals with prior technical experience. The Electrical Engineering program includes adjusted General Education Requirements, fundamental mathematics and science courses, mandatory core classes, and technical electives. Design principles are integrated throughout the curriculum. The General Education component enhances students' engineering training and promotes understanding of engineering's role in wider societal contexts. The 5-year BS/MS program in Electrical Engineering offers an accelerated path to a Master of Science degree. This opportunity is available to SUNY New Paltz juniors maintaining good academic standing who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
Students must have a high school degree.
To qualify for the BS in Electrical Engineering + MS in Electrical Engineering program, students must have completed the first semester of their junior year in residence at SUNY New Paltz with an overall SUNY New Paltz GPA of at least 3.0.
