The Coupled Natural and Human Systems (CNHS) field promotes cross-disciplinary research that combines social and ecological perspectives to examine environmental challenges through a systems lens. Our work tackles the difficulties of maintaining both ecological and societal resources in the Anthropocene - the present age where human activity significantly influences global Earth systems. With varied academic backgrounds, CNHS scholars view people as inseparable from ecosystems, studying their interconnected relationships and transformation patterns across different levels. Faculty advisors create interdisciplinary partnerships to guide CNHS students, leveraging their broad knowledge and professional backgrounds. The program prioritizes hands-on research and graduate education focused on addressing contemporary sustainability problems in practical contexts.
