The Journalism program equips students with essential research, interviewing, reporting, and writing skills, along with ethical and legal understanding to excel in journalism. Blending traditional journalistic values with modern technologies, the curriculum prepares students to craft engaging, truthful stories for diverse media formats. Suffolk University's customized approach begins with two core classes emphasizing public speaking, clear writing, and analytical reasoning, followed by specialized instruction in writing, digital journalism, and media law. Students then acquire practical journalism expertise through immersive learning.
Opting for the print/web journalism track provides versatile skills applicable to both print and digital media, such as news reporting, feature articles, critique writing, and editorial refinement. Our students frequently secure internships with prominent publications including The Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Boston Magazine, Metro newspapers, and numerous digital news and sports platforms.
