The two-year MFA in Film program offers a comprehensive curriculum covering screenwriting, television writing, directing, and producing. Students complete production phases that result in either a feature-length screenplay, a 20-minute thesis film, a TV writer's portfolio, or a producer's package for a feature film. Renowned faculty including Christine Vachon, Pamela Koffler, Alan Kingsburg, Magdalene Brandeis, Mercedes Ruehl, Jennie Allen, Lenny Crooks, Simone Pero, David Hinojosa, Karen Offitzer, and Jordan Roberts - alongside leading industry experts - mentor students through crucial aspects of independent filmmaking and television writing. This intensive, hands-on program emphasizes practical experience and project-based learning. Based at Stony Brook Manhattan's Center for Creative Writing and Film, we equip emerging artists with the skills, adaptability, and confidence needed to establish enduring careers in the dynamic, rapidly evolving film and television industry.
