The Department of Anthropology, part of the College of Arts and Sciences, provides a graduate program culminating in an M.A. degree. Students in this program can specialize in archaeology, sociocultural anthropology, or physical anthropology for their master's studies. While admission and degree criteria remain consistent, the curriculum varies by specialization. This M.A. Program caters to individuals seeking anthropological expertise for educational careers or those needing foundational preparation for doctoral studies in Anthropology. Both full-time and part-time enrollment options are available. Applicants should select their preferred subfield (archaeology, sociocultural anthropology, or physical anthropology) and reach out to their desired Anthropology faculty advisor before applying, though final admission decisions rest with the admissions committee rather than individual professors. Upon completing 15 graduate credits, students must form a guidance committee comprising three faculty members (with at least two from the Anthropology Department) to oversee their thesis proposal development and final M.A. thesis completion.
