The Africana Studies graduate program provides comprehensive exploration of African thought and experiences across the Americas, Africa, and worldwide. This interdisciplinary program adopts a comparative approach to studying the African Diaspora, highlighting connections between African, Caribbean-Latin American, and African American contexts. Learners will analyze Diasporic cultures with special focus on African American, Caribbean-Latin American, and continental African traditions, including their histories, literary works, governance structures, spiritual practices, and economic systems within the interconnected framework of emerging African societies historically connected through Atlantic maritime routes. Earning the Graduate Certificate necessitates completing 15 credits from the Africana Studies core graduate courses.
