The Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences provides an advanced undergraduate program culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree. First-year students at Stony Brook can choose clinical laboratory sciences as their preliminary major. Students also have the opportunity to pursue a dual major combining clinical laboratory sciences with biology, along with a part-time study option. Professionals in this field employ advanced instrumentation and specialized techniques to examine biological samples, generating crucial information for disease detection, prevention, and management. These analytical methods also support organ transplantation, medication level monitoring, forensic investigations, genetic research, and scientific studies.
