The Sustainability Studies program, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts degree, equips students with the expertise and tools to tackle environmental, societal, political, economic, and moral challenges involved in transitioning to sustainable communities. This interdisciplinary program combines approaches from social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities. Graduates are prepared for careers across public, private, and nonprofit sectors in areas like economic growth, international assistance, government, legal fields, policy-making, healthcare, conservation, corporate sectors, and sustainable tourism. The program also provides a foundation for advanced studies in social sciences, law, business administration, and related disciplines.
This major expands upon a foundational sustainability curriculum. Upperclass students take specialized courses while collaborating with peers from complementary programs on team-based problem solving. The program emphasizes practical learning through internships, research projects, fieldwork, and hands-on coursework to develop professional competencies.
