This course guides students through conducting health research in resource-limited settings, starting with formulating research questions and literature reviews to obtaining support and meticulously planning fieldwork. Participants will iteratively refine a concept note with weekly instructor feedback, ultimately creating a funding proposal for their selected research topic. While primarily designed for graduate students, advanced undergraduates (juniors/seniors) may join with permission. Undergraduate enrollment is limited to those who have completed at least 85 units. Stanford's Infectious Diseases program, spanning Adult and Pediatric Divisions, provides interdisciplinary training. The Department of Epidemiology and Population Health (EPH) serves as Stanford's hub for these initiatives, delivering specialized knowledge, research opportunities, and instruction in study methodology, data collection, analysis, and evidence interpretation to enhance clinical and field-based healthcare outcomes.
