Our Master of Science (MS) programs are designed as final degree pathways for individuals aiming to gain specialized expertise in civil and environmental engineering disciplines, preparing them for industry careers or further professional studies. The MS is primarily a course-based degree that doesn't mandate research or a thesis. Nevertheless, students in most programs have the option to pursue independent research for academic credit if desired. These graduate degrees adhere to Stanford University's official policies outlined in the Stanford Bulletin.
