The Master of Public Policy (MPP) is a two-year professional degree program. This program welcomes Stanford seniors, current graduate students, alumni who graduated in the last five years, and external candidates pursuing a joint degree. Current Stanford graduate students may pursue the MA option. The master's program aims to deepen expertise in public policy while equipping students for professional careers or PhD programs. Students accomplish this through coursework in their primary field and related disciplines, along with opportunities for independent study and specialization. The MPP or MA degree is awarded to those who show significant academic achievement and can perform independent policy research and analysis. By completing advanced coursework and intensive skills development, the program enables students to produce original policy insights and effectively communicate their findings.
