The Transnational, International, and Global History (TIG) graduate program enables students to examine historical phenomena that cross political and cultural boundaries while exploring connections between different world regions. TIG participants can investigate diverse subjects emphasizing the relationships between nations, institutions, and systems, along with the global spread of ideologies, traditions, and methodologies. The curriculum also includes examination of culturally diverse world areas like the Mediterranean basin, Indian Ocean territories, Central Asian zones, Pacific Rim nations, or Atlantic World communities. During their foundational studies, TIG candidates undertake coursework covering transnational historical methodologies, theoretical approaches, and scholarly literature, supplemented by specialization in two geographic historical disciplines. With faculty guidance, students subsequently formulate, investigate, and complete an original dissertation project.
