The Ph.D. program equips students to perform innovative studies on communication dynamics, including their roots and impacts across psychological, political, and cultural domains. Our doctoral alumni typically pursue academic careers in teaching and research, or enter communication-focused roles demanding advanced research capabilities. Applicants generally demonstrate focused interests in one of our three primary specialties: Media Psychology, Political Communication, or Journalism, Media and Culture. Throughout the program, students typically concentrate on one specialization while engaging with fundamental theoretical and empirical concepts across disciplines. Following foundational coursework in research methodologies, statistical analysis, and mass communication theory, each scholar develops expertise through specialized Communication courses, interdisciplinary seminars, research initiatives, teaching experience, and a comprehensive exam in their chosen field. These milestones are typically achieved within four years, with dissertation completion expected within six years.
