Contemporary geometry manifests in diverse forms, spanning fields like geometric topology, algebraic geometry, symplectic geometry, and geometric analysis—which frequently intersects with partial differential equations and geometric measure theory—to dynamic systems. Stanford has consistently served as a leading hub for all these geometric disciplines. Current research focuses among geometry faculty include algebraic geometry, Ricci and mean curvature flows along with other curvature-based equations, minimal surfaces and geometric measure theory, mathematical relativity, spectral geometry, geometric scattering theory, and the study of Riemann and Teichmüller moduli spaces in terms of both structure and dynamics.
