The finance discipline explores the economics of resource claims. Financial experts analyze how these claims are valued, the marketplaces where they're exchanged, and their applications across individuals, businesses, and society. Stanford GSB's finance researchers examine diverse subjects such as asset pricing, market behaviors, corporate financial structures, and decision-making processes in financial institutions. This research employs both theoretical model development and empirical validation. The PhD curriculum equips students with comprehensive knowledge of both theoretical modeling techniques and empirical research methodologies.
