The Materials Science and Engineering Program aims to equip students with a solid grounding in materials science fundamentals. Our curriculum focuses particularly on core scientific and engineering concepts that form the basis for understanding material structure, fabrication techniques, characteristics, and functionality across all material types used in engineering applications. Through our courses, students gain expertise in contemporary materials science while learning to apply this knowledge creatively to solve real-world challenges, all while enhancing their teamwork and communication abilities. The program readies graduates for professional roles in industry or advanced academic pursuits.
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required in order to enroll at Stanford. Generally, we receive English proficiency exam results (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, etc.) from applicants whose native language is not English and/or the primary language of instruction at their secondary school is not English.
