Discover the cultural, historical, and societal aspects of Asian Americans, encompassing: creative and traditional influences, contemporary relevance, past experiences, migration patterns, academic perspectives, and policy matters. Asian American Studies (AAS) offers a multidisciplinary framework for examining both past and present realities of individuals with Asian heritage in America. When referring to Asian Americans, the AAS faculty acknowledge that this term attempts to describe an evolving, diverse population with no singular identity or unified community. The Asian American demographic includes people with ancestral connections to various regions such as East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, or the Philippines, and beyond.
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required in order to enroll at Stanford. Generally, we receive English proficiency exam results (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, etc.) from applicants whose native language is not English and/or the primary language of instruction at their secondary school is not English.
