The GM ASEP is an intensive two-year apprenticeship that prepares participants to become highly-skilled automotive technicians at GM dealerships. This GM-endorsed curriculum combines classroom instruction with hands-on laboratory practice using current GM models, supplemented by paid cooperative work experience at participating GM dealerships. The General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (GM ASEP), supported by General Motors, leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree through comprehensive automotive service training. Participants must secure sponsorship from a GM dealership for practical training components. Each semester features a full academic schedule incorporating GM factory training and internship opportunities. Graduates receive factory-training certifications from GM. Prospective GM ASEP students must apply directly through the automotive department, which operates independently from general College admissions. Program acceptance depends on meeting established minimum requirements. GM dealerships conduct drug screenings and background investigations before sponsoring students, following dealership-specific protocols separate from College policies.
