The SIUE Department of Social Work provides distinctive educational opportunities. Within the College of Arts and Sciences, learners gain knowledge through both conventional classroom instruction and hands-on participation in community-based research and educational initiatives. Our pupils collaborate with various institutions, helping deliver services to people and families facing homelessness, financial hardship, and psychological difficulties. The MSW curriculum equips learners for specialized careers in social work, providing them with extensive theoretical understanding and polished practical abilities for professional positions as therapists, managers, program organizers and assessors, and neighborhood planners. Alumni can spearhead initiatives designed to improve circumstances for marginalized, vulnerable, or disadvantaged populations across various social work sectors such as child welfare services, addiction treatment, medical and psychological care, end-of-life services, policy creation, and local community groups.
