The School of Education, Health and Human Behavior provides a Master of Science in kinesiology focusing on exercise physiology, structured as an evening program for working adults. This curriculum aligns with American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) standards for Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification. Through the Department of Applied Health, students gain expertise for roles in cardiac rehabilitation, personal training, hospital settings, corporate wellness initiatives, health education, or advanced studies in medical fields. With flexible start dates in fall, spring, or summer, students can finish degree requirements within 12-22 months. Recognized by the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences, this program achieved additional accreditation from CAAHEP in 2014, distinguishing it as Illinois' sole program and among the top 5% nationally with this recognition. The program maintains rigorous CoAES standards, demonstrating strong outcomes including 95% student retention and 92% graduate employment rates over three years. ACSM recognizes this program's alignment with its Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification objectives.
