Geography integrates natural and social sciences while employing geospatial technologies to analyze Earth's systems and explore human-environment interactions. The Department of Geography's comprehensive approach supports students with diverse academic interests. Our master's program in the College of Arts and Sciences establishes core geographic knowledge while allowing specialization in specific subfields. Geography graduates from SIUE enjoy numerous career prospects, particularly as we're the sole geography program serving the St. Louis metro region. This positions our alumni favorably for roles in the expanding geospatial sector. Potential employers span federal/state agencies, national security firms, technology corporations, engineering consultancies, utilities, municipal governments, agribusinesses, and environmental NGOs. Career paths include geospatial analysis, cartography, urban planning, market research, climate studies, natural resource management, sustainability advising, and park services.
