The Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management (AVM) program expands upon technical expertise in areas such as aviation maintenance, flight operations, avionics technology, air traffic control, aircraft operations support, and military or government roles. Aviation Management students can customize their education to align with specific career interests, covering sectors like airline operations, general aviation, finance, safety protocols, regulatory compliance, air traffic systems, maintenance management, and airport administration and development.

This major is structured to advance technical knowledge acquired through aviation maintenance, flight training, avionics, air traffic control, aircraft operations, or related aviation disciplines. Technical preparation can be obtained from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, other accredited institutions, specialized schools, military or government organizations (domestic or international), or through government-approved flight or maintenance training programs. Admission to the Aviation Management program requires prospective students to first gain acceptance to the University.

Qualification Requirements

Students need to have Transcripts from high school and/or college. At SIU Carbondale, applicants for admission will be eligible for automatic admission if they are on track to complete our course pattern requirements and who meet one of the following criteria: A cumulative high school GPA of 2.75; A ranking in the top 10% of their graduating class.

English Language Requirement: Any one of the following methods will automatically meet the minimum English requirement. Applicants who do not meet the automatic English language admission requirement will undergo a holistic review to determine potential admissibility.
